Noted the Ace hardwares and Walgreens are selling blacklight flashlights for scorpion hunting. Don't know how well they would work though.

My buddy has one of these. He used it on the river after he got a little "love nip" from a scorpion before. We didn't see any when he was using it, but I don't know if that means it sucked or that there weren't any scorpions around.

Oh, yeah, let's go scorpion hunting! Rolling Eyes

They taste great, breaded and fried. Side dish for rattlesnake croquettes. Mr. Green

Might come in handy, though, for checking your boots at 4 a.m!!

Here's the 411 on those blacklights................They will not emit light any further than a foot or so.
Been there done that...................great if you're on the ground and you find one to take a picture of or maybe tie the light to a stick but i'd pass.
You'll find it collecting dust...............Kenny S

I have not tried the ons I just found in the stores. The one I have is good for about a foot. ne night checking a mesquite limb I came across a buzztail on a limb. Now I check witha regular light before I use the black light.

I have one I bought at the flea market just off 60. I think the cross road is Signal Butte. It has 8 UV LEDs and uses 3 triple A cells. I can pick out a scorpion at about 12-15 feet on a dark night. There is no brand name on it and the case is shiny metal, maybe SS.

That sounds identical to the one I bought for about $15 at Walgreens. Well built, thumb button on the end, good range. I've found hundreds of scorpions out here around the lake house with it, works great!
