I sold my old Red Jeep today. I am sort of depressed about it, but it needed to be done. It's taken me---
To the Maze in Canyonlands several times
To the Rubicon trail in No Cali several times
To numerous backcountry places in Death Valley, Anza Borrego, Utah on old mining trails etc without missing a beat.
Great jeeping in Los Coyotes in Cali.

Unfortunately I was fixing it more than driving it. Now my FJ is 3 inches taller and getting a new bumper and a winch, but it will never replace the Jeep
RIP

I was sad selling my Jeep and I didn't even have it for a year.

Letty...I must tell you I saw a "red jeep" on the 4WD roads in Canyonlands when I was in Utah in May and I thought of you immediately. I think I even took a picture of it. I'm sure selling it was like losing a friend.

Isn't it funny how we become attached to our vehicles? We form a bond that is very much like a friendship it seems. For some of us that is, for some a vehicle is just that, a vehicle. To some of us though, that hunk of metal, plastic, glass and rubber was the one thing besides our bed that we've spent the most time with in the past decade or so. Possibly more so than our family or friends. I still have fond memories of old vehicles. Even the ones that were money buckets.

Letty, sorry to hear about the parting of your Jeep but I'm sure the FJ will gain it's own similar place in your heart in tens of thousands more miles.

well Letty, you have many trips and fond memories to remember. But you have a new vehicle to break in and I'm sure you are already doing so.

I feel your sadness Letty. I have mine up for sale. That Just Empty Every Pocket thing was something I could no longer do. For the time being I bought a Subaru Outback, threw a bike rack on the top, and hope I have a good relationship with it. In time I will buy another Jeep
