R.I.P. Hooli. Terrible news, indeed. A character like that is always tough to lose. _________________ Mountains complement desert as desert complements city, as wilderness complements and completes civilization. - Ed Abbey |

I am a very old Cyberfriend of the Head Hooligan. We went back to the very beginnings of the old Prodigy service and were denizens of the Butt Inne. I am shocked and terribly, terribly saddened by this news. But yes, HH probably realized that Dew and the rest of the Hooligans needed him at The Bridge and went to join them. But oh, John - we are going to miss you so down here........ Vaya con Dios, my old friend - Glo |

Wow, like many have said, this is not what I expected to read. I only met him once, working at the South Rim, but he was an instantly memorable character. He will be missed by all here on the site, and by many more, I am certain, who were involved with him throughout his life. _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

I hope Hooli will rest in peace. I wished he lived because I really wanted to meet him.

Here is to your journey John.
A southern breeze and this road I'm on,
I wonder if I'll see the end.
The city of my sleep where angels dream,
Wrapped up closely to the dawn.
Follow time, like a ghost,
Follow time, like a ghost, I long to wander.
I fell into an angel's dream, I think I left my senses there,
Along with all those forgotten things I left my senses there.
Follow time, like a ghost,
Follow time, like a ghost, I long to wander.
This is the time that we have longed for, that we have longed for.
From far away, far away,
I ask that you would stay in my tranquil dreams,
Tranquil dreams, tranquil dreams. –Tarnation _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

I prayed for Hooli throughout the day yesterday ...knowing it was the day of his surgery. He will be missed. I hope he knew how much we all cared for him.
God Bless Our Hooli.

Oh my gosh... I never expected this and just sent him a PM yesterday. Hooli will surely be missed. This soo sad. This had to have been hard to write. I am so sorry. I and I'm sure many of you closer to him will miss him and his crazy antics. Please let us know if there will be any services or such for him. _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)

Hooli - El Camino Del Diablo 2006
Thanks for letting me ride along & make some great memories.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch

I just saw about this on HAZ. I am terribly sorry to hear about it. I had just sent him an email in response to one he had sent out to a bunch of people. Something about don't send me any emails.
Anyway, I'm in a public place, the library, I feel terrible about this. I met him only once but we hit it off and we frequently sent emails and jokes back and forth. I will really miss him.

I want to thank everyone for the great pictures of HH. Those of you who knew him personally and had the pleasure of hiking with him may or may not have heard him speak of the Butt Inn - that was a bulletin board on the old Prodigy system. He was one of our most important denizens of the Butt Inn and there were about 20 of us who participated regularly there. We are all shocked and terribly saddened by his passing and we appreciate these pictures - the one of HH and Richie Rich in the field of flowers is especially moving - I can see him right this minute, at the Bridge, surrounded by his Hooligans and my Gang and Tia Belle's BoxerBabes and flowersflowersflowers growing along the streams. He's smiling and hoping someone will raise a Bucket 'o Whatevers to him and the good times. Here's to you, Head Hooligan - I raise a bucket to you - scraping off the Sea Monkies first, of course! The Jello Pit will never be the same....
