Just curious if anyone has heard from Igo lately. He hasn't been on the site in a while and I've not gotten a response to an email that I recently sent him. Has anyone had contact lately? I'm hoping that my concern is unfounded and that he's happily hiking the Mt. Charleston area at every opportunity.

Seeing as how his last post seemed very angry, he might have just stopped posting here

I am sure he is either hiking or riding his bike some where....I know he was also trying to work on finding friends closer to his location to hang with....Ambika might be right, let's just hope what ever he is doing he is happy! And that he knows any time he wants to show up here he will always receive a warm welcome!

I guess I'm just a little concerned since he hikes a lot on his own and lives a good distance from anyone else in our community. Regardless of his last posts (I think that most of us have had posts that were out of character from our normal personalities), Robert made significant contributions to our discussions and the events that he came to. I just hope that he's OK and enjoying life and will check in from time to time and let us know how he's doing, or better yet, come back regularly.

Many of us have chosen to move on but it's good to see that inquiries are being made.

Since it seems people have his phone number, maybe a call could be made to ensure he is OK?

Just to follow up... Igo emailed me yesterday and we caught up on what he's been up to a bit. It's good to know that he's well and continuing his personal adventures.

This topic does kinda remind me of the many people that have come and gone from the site. Some still lurk, I'm sure. It makes me wonder though, what it was that made them want to be a part of this community originally, and now... not so much. Personally, I feel very fortunate to have met so many good people through this site. So, what is it that attracts members and what are the reasons people leave? And what makes someone who's been a very active member suddenly almost become a "lurker"?

Here are some of my guesses, but that's all they are...

Why people are attracted
1) They love all that Arizona has to offer once you step off the beaten path,
2) They would like to meet like-minded people to hike with and share experiences,
3) They are planning a vacation and are looking for help in planning from those who have unique insight.

Why people leave:
1) Life-changes occur that take priority,
2) They find that the prevailing philosophies among the regular posters doesn't match theirs,
3) They got what they were looking for at that moment in their lives and are off looking for the "next big thing", or
4) Hooli scared them away!
