Awesome rain here on the west side too! It was a nice nights sleep! Every thing is all wet! I love it! We had puddles in the back yard last night! The pool is full to the rim! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Good storm here that started around 5pm last night and it's still sprinkling. Discussions on Noaa.gov suggest 89mph gusts in Apache Junction last night. 75 degrees out right now, low clouds around the Superstitions............love it! |

Good to see the old hometown, Phoenix, got a good old-fashioned blasting storm rolling in from the east-northeast!! Brings back lots of memories from the 60s and 70s! Here in Tucson, a new official daily record rainfall was established at the airport (1.42"), while .79 fell at my place.
Even though the Chiricahua weekend bit the dust (or sank in the mud), I think I will go down to Rustler tomorrow anyway to immerse myself in the tropical summer scene. |

Left about midnight last night for a jeep run out in the desert. Went east and should have gone north for best post storm results. Toads were singing (out of key as usual) and kept me from trying to take a nap. |

It was a good rain last nite. Surprised it lasted so long. They usually pass so quickly and it is over before you know it. I enjoyed listening to it. _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)

It's raining in Surprise! And the sun is shining as well...hoping for a rainbow!

Haboob here in 'tukee, so dusty you can taste it in the air. Hope we get rain to wash it away.
From what I can see of the clouds building over the mountain, (thus over the city) things are happening there as well. They exploded in the last 15 minutes. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Dark clouds for a few hours now, sprinkles only for about 15 minutes now. |

Look like quite a thunderhead was building up near Garden Valley in the SWA. Formed up and drifted to the Southeast but no rain. |

Shawn, I was in your neck of the woods yesterday (Ray and 46th place) during the storm with Gma and it flooded the building when a burm broke, closed the freeway at Priest and US60, and made a big ole mess around the area...an amazing amount of rain I think my parents said 3 inches in Tempe. Drove home through some of it and only had a light rain here. |

I heard about that but out here on the west end (13th Ave) we didn't get much. I could see it raining east of here, the mountain disappeared. These summer storms are neat, but I sometimes miss the thick overcast that spreads over counties for 2 - 3 days and slowly drops an inch or two that soaks in. Guess we'd have different vegetation if that was the norm.
I"m getting ready to head to Minneapolis, maybe I'll see some of that this week. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

If I recall accurately, never a certainty, the Navajo had two different words to describe summer rain from winter rain. Summer, or monsoon, rain was Man rain. Quick and short. Winter rain was Woman rain, slow but long. Hmmm. |
