I see some nasty posts this weekend while everyone is out at the shinding. (I"m headin that way.)

Maybe we should let some out of towners have admin authority so the place can be swept out when the local authorites happen to be away.

I'm going climbing tomorrow out at Oak Flat. Any takers?

I'm probably going to sleep till 7:30 or 8 AM though. I'm really beat. Today was a long day.

Matt, or anyone, any word on the status of the Oak Flat closure/mine/environmental disaster?

I wonder if I'll ever climb again. Have a bad elbow. Have been treating it with Walmart glucosamine with some success. Need to try the better quality product, though.

You guys have a blast! I'm envious!

Pete, we should go sometime! Saturday works best for me and I've been itching to check out the Pond, I've heard a lot of good stuff about it. Let me know if you ever have a trip planned.

Matt, I won't be able to go climbing today, but I know there is a group that headed out there earlier this morning for some climbing, not sure which area they were going to be at, though. Just know they were going to be at the mine, probably over in the Looner area.

As far as I know the area is still slated to be closed. However I think there have been some recent political issues involving some of the land swap agreements and Rick Renzi that have put the deal on hold for a bit. But when I was out there two weeks ago we found one of the parking areas fenced off and it looks like they have some extra security personal wandering around now.

I'm headed out real soon. Probably going to the Mine area, more specifically Magma Gardens. There is still a lot of routes there that I haven't tried. The Pond is awesome! Hope your endurance is good when you go there; those routes are pumpy!

I'm actually not sure what's going on with Oak Flat. I'll probably find out more info next weekend. I'll let you guys know.

azbackpacker,

I use the CostCo glucosamine for my knees and it helps quite a bit. But on some occasions I need to crush the pills up so that my body can process them fast enough. I am not sure what the price is like at Walmart, but it is quite reasonable for the store brand at CostCo.

MSM! You can get it at Wally World and at Costco.

Is MSM the brand name? My chiropractor wants me to try this expensive stuff he sells. I have heard from a few hikers that certain (more expensive) brands actually work a lot better. I have also heard the liquid stuff works better.

Every now and then, when my knees get sore from hiking and my elbows get sore from climbing, I take Max Muscle brand Max Joint Relief. It is a combination of Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM and I swear it works like magic! I paid $28.99 for a 120 capsule bottle. I don't know if that is expensive or not, but to me it is worth it cause it works. I realize there is not a Max Muscle store in Eagar, but I thought I'd share in case it helps out someone else.
