My girlfriend and some of my friends used to belong to the AMC. They pretty much learned to climb in that club, so I think that you should go for it. Learning all the basics from people who know what they are talking about is really the way to go. Plus you might meet some cool people to go on future climbing trips with!
My girlfriend and I would be happy to take you climbing if you ever want to go. We go all the time; in fact I was climbing near Prescott all day Saturday.

I've gone climbing a couple of times but still really rely on the others I am with for knots and knowledge. I'd love to go with you guys but also think a full class would be good for me.

This is a class I will take but it'll have to wait until the next go around. I have a class for work in October that conflicts with this. I would like to do some outdoor stuff though.

i took this class several years ago
it's very informative
on sunday you do a lot of one pitch top-roped climbs in the mcdowell mountains, then the final saturday your graduation climb
i did "the hand" in the superstitions, which was a little exposed with a nice rappell
i should have followed up with the anchors class
almost feel like i need a refresher, since i've just been climbing indoors
anyway, i highly recommend the class
