Really not very funny; happens far, far too often to be funny. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

When the Man waked up he said, "What is Wild Dog doing here?" And the Woman said, "His name is not Wild Dog anymore, but the First Friend, because he will be our friend for always and always and always. Take him with you when you go hunting."

I'm with Hooli on this one. Did you know that something like 80% of dog attacks are committed by dogs who are chained up for most of the day? Too bad those attacks aren't usually directed at the owners... |

I can't understand why people would get a dog and make it part of their family, only to keep it tied up all day.
What fun is having a dog when all you do is feed, water, and clean up after it? _________________

That's the interesting part in my opinion. The comic is both funny (from the perspective of a cat - or from the perspective of a "best friend" being locked up - or neutered/spayed as a previous signature line of Hooli's hinted at) and a sad commentary.
Non-sequitur is like that a lot. Initially funny, but when you think about it - it's a pretty cutting commentary on the foolishness of people.
Very smart comic. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

That was how Strider lived before the Basenji Club of No. Calif. got him. He's a real sweet boy; was very insecure when I brought him home; much better now, but doubt he'll ever feel as secure as Dew has all her life.
He's quit howling the minute I leave the house and hasn't tried to escape and come looking for me like he did the first week here. Happily I found him both times and when he saw me he came running with curly tail wagging like crazy; first and only Basenji to ever ride in the golf car, and seems to have liked it.....everytime he's in the garage he immediately jumps in it as if to say, "Let's go!" Has Bonded very well with me and will let me do anything to him; have trimmed his nails a couple of times and he just lies on his back in my lap and puts up no resistance.
Didn't see any humor initially in the cartoon and still don't; have too often seen the results of such treatment in the years I spent working with the Basenji Club rescue to think it's at all funny.
Here's Strider at Hart Prairie where we were camped for the Humphrey's hike:
He's also very good at protecting me from marauding quail and it's funny to watch him and Dew try to get through the dog door at the same time when they sense quail in the yard!
Here's Dew doing a little fence jumping at Hart Prairie:

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday and thought of you, Dew & Strider. It read, "My Basenji is smarter than your honor student." I believe it, too! _________________ [/size] |

I heard a girl that works for one of my clients say once about her husband -
"Who? my husband? He's an idiot but he's my idiot!"
On the other hand, I could never keep a dog tied in the yard, and that's a lot to say for a person from Alabama. I've seen worse done to animals and it should never be allowed. Usually those folks treat their children in a similar manner.
