side note before I leave, incredible these guys at the right place at the right time. This was on part of my trip, I've been here before. Normally the Escalante is a small ribbon in a riparian area, and Neon is mostly dry with damp sand and at times a tiny stream to cross. The pool is most always present at Golden Cathedral base.

Thank you, Letty. As I posted earlier, I've been there--once--and it is very sobering to see the power of water once more. Flash floods are a wonderful cure for hubris.

Ah, this answers lots of questions and certainly paints a picture to match what the water gauges have been showing for the last week. Now I know exactly what a spike from 0 feet to 10 feet looks like. Simply amazing.
