Katie has re-released her book"All My Rivers are Gone" as "Glen Canyon Betrayed" with re-edits.re-design,indexed, with lots of new photos and a fiery new afterword. I am fortunate enough to have spent some time with her today in Jerome, on the way home from Sedona. I can hardly wait till we get her down here, for a get together,(not till it cools off!) She is fiery, funny, amazing and an icon. I am so thankful she is in this world and that I am blessed to know her. Very Happy

Ok, ya'll, I'm putting out a call to anyone with a large screen TV/DVD player who would be willing to host a little get together in the NOT near future for Ms Katie Lee.

Details--She is an author of several books, including the above re-released book, environmentalist, outspoken, unique individualist of a generation we are losing members of everyday. She was most fortunate to have seen Glen Canyon before the drowning, and other wonderful areas. Her DVD has been presented around the country and is full of photos of that wonderful place.

She is willing to come down at some point if we have room in our and her schedules. I am open to suggestions via reply here or pm. Then George or I or both will be in contact. I am unavailable to mid Nov at least and her schedule is busy too---anybody????

Great News----

I can do the Computer/Projector on a screen or white wall....either here or at another location. Would be fun out at the Lost Dutchman state park. I wonder if we could get the ampitheater.

Happy to host here or attend at another location. Nov 18th, Dec 2, 9, 16 are open for my house. Planning a Christmas Party on the 23rd.

Hey, here's another suggestion/offer.......

Why not the community room at the fire station in Gold Canyon? I think we might have an inside connection there.

Great, Suz, any and all sound good. Any cost I wonder with the community room at Fire Station??? Nighthiker???

I think early Dec might work if she is not down in Baja then. I'll see what I can find out. Nov 18 good too, thanks for the quick response.

Do the fireman go with that deal??I just spoke to Katie and will try to firm up her book signing /lecture dates/schedules to see what can be arranged, as I'm sure Letty will also. She expressed that she would rather be in someone's home with a potluck , free food and "libations",as she says. Wink

I'm sure the potluck could be arranged for the Community Center but doubt the "libations" are okay but we'll have to check.

Ok, this is the deal...In order to get Katie down here, we need to cough up about $100 bucks for gas expense from Jerome and back,as she is doing this favor for Letty and me and usually charges for her lectures, etc. I don't mind and I hope no one else does. I paid to see her lecture and hear her sing and it was worth every cent, especially close up and personal!
We can figure all this out as the date/sched is decided. Alrighty??

I'm not a fireman, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

I'd kick in ten or twenty for this, but it depends on what night and time.
