I'm sure the studies have never incorporated dog owners who have Beagles....

Or bad boys like that Cairn that owns me Mr. Green ;

He sure had his share of BBQ shrimp last night. Mr. Green

Richie Rich says, "OMYGAWD......doesn't Jerome know that water makes you melt just like it did the wicked witch of the north?"

I'd love to take credit, but this dog is extrordinarily photogenic, and a natural poser. I have enough 'cute doggie' pics to make Dr. Dolittle vomit..... Embarassed

Percocet is stronger than Vicodin

Both are opiates, and so are the ones listed below.

Percocet is oxycodone while Vicodin is hydrocodone, probably the way they extracted and from the sap of the poppy plant.

Codeine, Morphine, Fentanyl, Heroine, Demerol, Methadone, Dilaudid are also the same family and derived from the poppy plant.

Here is the break down of the most strongest pain narcotic analgesics from the opiate category and all are highly addictive.

1. Fentanyl - given in micrograms, not milligrams - thats how potent it is
2. Dilaudid - usual dose is .1-.4 of a milligram in a normal weight and normal tolerance adult
3. Heroine - available on street and highly addictive
4. Oxycodone - percocet, percodan, oxycontin
5. Morphine/Vicodin/Methadone are a tie

there are others, but these are the major players in pain relief on an in-patient and out-patient basis except for Heroin of course, you can get that from your local dealer....

Methadone is used where I work to keep the withdrawals of street drugs or prescription drug abusers at bay, along with any other drugs to calm their anxiety
If this isn't sufficient, there is always restraints.

Surprising I got the percocet over the vicodin for the tooth extraction; back strain was much more painful and long lasting than the wisdom tooth yank.

Hey, 1973 was in major auto accident; guy in a full sized Pontiac hit my little '71 MGB-GT broadside in the driver's door......i was the driver....doing about 45mph, (Him, not me). Me and my little MGB ended up a block further down from where we were hit. porridge near cut my MG and me in half. Cops later admitted if I'd had seat belt fastened I'd have been DOA....as it was, unfastened, drivers seat and I were moved over to the middle of the car. Spent eleven of the happiest days of my life in ICU with morphine drip and respirator running 24/7. Later had a chance to talk to one of the ICU nurses who'd treated me while I was under their care; she said first words out of my mouth, when I regained consciousness and before they trached me, were, "I have a low pain threshold, so just leave me the f**k alone!" She later turned me down for a date! Crying or Very sad
My parents were initially told I had about one chance in five of surviving; after I was released three weeks later, they said it was my aerobic conditoning from running and cycling that saved me. So......guess I better keep it up....spent 1-1/2 hours at the gym this afternoon, but took it easy......only 1/2 hour on the treadmill.....but a 15 degree angle and 4.0 MPH the whole time....and still couldn't get pulse above the 130's. Pretty good for an old fart.....and even better for someone approaching middle age like I am! Rolling Eyes

My favorite drug to administer in the ICU:
Propofol, the white milky medication that we give in the ICU to sedate patients who are on a ventilator, we call it "milk of amnesia". Who the heck wants to remember that they had a breathing tube down their throat for 1-3 days anyhow...

I had trach in for eleven days; after first five or six days, I'd take it out the connection from the respirator so I could cough up all the crap that was building up; otherwise, they'd suction me and I really, really, really hated that. Pissed the nurses off no end, but Docs said, "Let him do it! Shows he's fighting and can handle being off the machine for a while."

No, then took my afternoon nap; after popping 1/2 percocet, had no choice! Sleeping
