Here's an interesting summer read. Where the Lightning Strikes : The Lives of American Indian Sacred Places -- by Peter Nabokov.
A good collection of stories about what the indians consider sacred spots, and why. The book goes a long way to dispel the notion that Native Americans are all eco-saints and that sometimes, a spot that may seem inspirational to one culture has no significance to another. Nice to see things from somebody else's eye once in a while.
