I have storage issues. Until I resolve this I've had to put the idea on the back burner.

Ok, I've stayed off this thread, Laughing, but now the rivers are up and I'm thinking about it again. I have acquired a used Perception Dancer, a 12' hardshell whitewater boat. I now also have a Carlysle paddle, need PFD, skirt, etc., and lessons!

I posted this request before, but the people I was told to contact did not respond to emails. Canyons and Coastlines' website seems not to be maintained--all info is for a year or two ago. I need to find a certified instructor to learn the Eskimo Roll. Please advise. I had planned to spend the warmer months practicing the roll in the lakes around here, then go on the Lower Colorado near Yuma this winter for non-whitewater practice on a river, but I gotta get the lessons first!

One comment as to storage. It helps to have kids away at college. My kayak fits nicely in my daughter's bedroom!

So, IGO, have you decided upon a boat?

I'm bent on a 15+ foot touring kayak. I have property at Meadveiw within sight of the western end of the grand canyon. To get inside the bottom of the canyon from the last put-in reasonably would require a narrow and fast kayak. I've looked at everything on the market but have had to sideline the idea for $140 a month storage conserns.

It would be if it were less than 12 feet.

Now that's being innovative AZ lol lol. If your looking for lessons try www.kayaklakemead.com his name is Robert Finlay. My wife and I met him last Jan. and did some hiking and kayaking with him. He's a great guy and really knows his stuff very knowledgeable of the lake mead area, equipment use and safety issues.

hey you guys, I just joined this group for the reason that all of you seem to honestly love the outdoors and I did notice a few kayak questions.

If you have questions about anything to do with kayaking; I can give a fair shot at answering them. A direct email via my website would be best if you do have questions.

...and if you are interested in learning to roll a kayak; I am a pretty fair eskimo roll instructor...if I may say so.

see ya paddling (or hiking)...
