I am going to the Salt Lake area July 29th for a week. Very Happy I have never been to the area before. Any suggestions for good hiking/fishing/biking?

Cindy ! Contact Utah Travel Council Council Hall/Capitol Hill Salt Lake City, Ut. 84114 or call 801 538 1030 and ask for Utah Scenic Byways and Backways or thr Utah Travel Guide. Covers everything! My favorite place. They will send guides. Smile

The Salt Lake valley is bordered on the East by the Wasatch mountains. There are several spectacular canyons that penetrate the range-most of them dead end after 15 or 20 miles-ski resorts at the top. My favorite dead end canyon is Millcreek canyon. It has a 2 lane road and is less developed than most of the others-no ski resort, etc. When you get near the top there is a trailhead to Dog lake & Desolation lake. Don't let the names foll you,it's beautifull scenery!! Any canyon you take will be worth it. Nice streams running along the road-unlike Az. they actually have water in them! I have photos I could send you if you like.

There are no fish in the Great Salt Lake. Only brine shrimp.
