I know that the parks charge a fee to get in and then you also have the option of buying their year long pass. What is the pass called that gets you into all the parks all year long?

For the National parks, it's the Golden Eagle Pass. Unless you're an old fart and then, for $10, you get the Golden Age Pass which gets you into all Nat'l Parks and Monuments; its expiration date is the same as yours. Shocked

Nationa Park pass is $50, its good for a year expires at the end of the month that you buy it a year later. The Maricopa County park pass is $75 and is good for one year it expires on the date that you buy it. I do not know if the state has a anual pass or not.

cactuscat- That's what I thought. They should just combine it into one and make it easier for all of us. Smile

evenstar- They probably figure all the older people are getting ready to "kick it" soon anyway, so why not give them the whole shabang! Wink

doug- Do I just go to maricopa.gov and pay for the pass there?

Can the National Parks pass be purchased at any nat'l park?

I haven't had to pay to get into the GC the last few trips because we got there before 8 a.m. We were prepared to pay when leaving but they didn't stop us to collect.

I was wondering about that. I noticed that there is a TH into Usery from Meridian. If you enter from there, don't they charge you the park fee? Alos, when you park at Canyon Lake, are you charged the fee to do Peralta and the trails accessed from there?

No fees at Canyon Lake trailhead. Also the fees for Peralta and First Water trailheads were recently eliminated.

Unless you will be frequenting a park all the time, I suggest you wait a year and see how often you use the park. I have only had to pay about $45 max for the year so far on fees. They are mostly for campgrounds or permits, both of which would not be covered under the pass. Most all of the hikes I have done are fee free. They were at different place that would require different passes, so I would be wasting money. Something to think about.
