WOW. I totally forgot about Washa Crackers. That used to be regular staple on backpacks years ago. I can't beleave I forgot about them. A thin slab of parm and some sprouts. Mmmm.

Thanks everybody; I've been adding this stuff to my list as we go.

I pretty much grab whatever I have in my pantry (which is set up for hiking/backpacking), tuna, crackers, trail mix, instant soups, mashed potatoes, hummus, in the fridge is generally carrots, some lettuce, oranges and apples. I will grab something that I feel like eating the day that I'm leaving. I also keep a little bag with enough food for 1 1/2 days, so if I don't have time to think about it, I just grab the prepackaged bag...it's a 'grab bag' meal Laughing . I eat most of my lunches like that too! Mary

Cool. I have 2 selves in my rather large pantry with nothing but Hiking food on them. I also keep a couple grab and run bags. One is filled with everything you'd ever want to take on an extended road trip less clothes and cameras and the other is a trail setup for about a day and a half. When somebody say "Let's go" guess what? IGO!!!!!

I'd love to hear the story. I know she don't spell real well either. That's just part of what makes her my buddy.

On long day hikes, I'll toast a blueberry bagel and put on tons of cream cheese. I then put it together like a sandwich and then wrap it in foil.

On shorter hikes I just bring trail mix or clif bar, just enough to keep blood sugar up.

As for backpacking trips, I haven't been on any, so I don't know what I'll bring on those, but obviously non-perishable food. When I decide to stop becoming a professional student, I'll have more time to focus on backpacking. In the mean time, I have to wait until July.

I like Wasa with cream cheese, pre cooked bacon and dry peaches. Salty nuts and some kind of candy for desert. MP

rofl Everytime I hear the word pantry, I crack up. <sorry Diane> It's one of those infamous and endearing stories.

Somebody was picking on me about spelling pantry right the other day. I think I'm starting to get it now. Idea

If you like Wassa, try Seasoned Ry Krisp. They are pretty much the same but taste a lot better imo.
