Hi Kids,
I'm looking for information on AZ Route 73. You pick it up just north of Salt River Canyon on route 60, it takes you to White River and connects to 260 between Pinetop and McNary. I've read it's pretty scenic. Looking for info on speed limit (it's on the reservation), road surface (paved or dirt), etc.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill: SR 73 is all paved. All of the road is on the White Mtn. Apache Reservation and is patrolled by tribal police. May be some DPS patrols there as well, but I've only seen tribal police. If you are headed to Hondah Casino or Sunrise, it may be faster via this route, since you avoid 15 miles of strip commercial traffic in Pinetop/Lakeside. There are few services here, however. The tribal capitol is Whiteriver, which has a few gas stations and I believe a museum. Speed limit is probably only 55 since it is a two lane road with few passing lanes.

CV,
Thanks for the info. I figured you'd have the details. Thanks for including the info on the gas stations. I was gonna research that on my own if the road was paved.

You're info on Rt 288 was dead-on. Drove north about 10 days ago from Globe until the pavement ended.
Thanks again,
Bill

288 is good all the way to Young. The gravel part ain't too bad. This time of year, the FS route up to SR 260 can have a lot of snow on it, and it isn't plowed (DAMHIKT)
