Hi to all of you,
I really don't know if I'm at the good place and don't know if I can post that kind of question.
I'm 65 and not adventurous but would like to go to coyote buttes. Is it some commercial guides who can come with my wife and me?
Thank you,
Fendleroc. |

I'm pretty sure BLM has a website for this area, and I understand you need to register and get permits some time in advance. I don' t know that there are any commerical guides, it's not a big trip. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Your best bet is to peruse the website for the area:
https://www.az.blm.gov/paria/index2.html
The permits are available exactly at noon (mountain standard time) on the first day of the month for permits seven months out. When I went on-line exactly at at noon on December 1 for June permits for Coyote Buttes north- I got my permits but noticed that over half the month of June was reserved within 3 minutes! The website does give a list of 2 guiding services that are authorized for the area- they are:
BackCountry Adventures - www.hikinguide.com
Canyon Country Out-Back Tours - www.ccobtours.com
It's a great area- hope that you get to see it!

The Paria Ranger Station also offers "walk-up" permits - issued every day.
Please check with the Ranger Station in Kanab first, but I believe that the "walk-up" permits are offered the day before you'd like to hike starting @ 9AM UTAH time.
The Paria Ranger Station is on the south side of 89 at about Utah milepost 21+/-.
If you're headed there in summer get an early start... it gets pretty toasty in Coyote Buttes when the sun gets high.
At a brisk pace, it's about an hour hike to "The Wave" from Wire Pass T/H.
Some folks take up to 2 hours. The route-finding is not difficult, IMO, if you follow the BLM map/description. _________________ "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
