No Really!
I was just talking to my insurance company about my tennents policy and the guy and I got to talking about backpacking (and the amount of money I have invested in gear). He told me that I was covered through my policy for up to $2000 worth of stolen, lost, or destroyed gear(less the deductible of course...) while I was in the backcountry.
It's nice know that even while I'm in the middle of the nowhere my insurace company is still thinking of me...

Pat and I have 3 riders (sp) on our insurance policy, one for her ring, one for our road/mtn bikes, and one for our outdoor gear.
It's a very comforting thing. When my mtn bike was stolen 2 years ago, with replacement cost insurance, I got the value of the "new" and more expensive version of the bike that was stolen.
Insurance is not something we've ever wanted to cut costs with...no geico for us... _________________ -Colin

Thnaks for the info, last years I heard reports of people coming back to their campsites and had most of their gear stolen. |

I never gave this issue any thought but I guess I better - and contact my Insurance Company right away and see what they will cover. Good gear sure isn't cheap.
It's just too sad that we have to worry about this but I guess it's a sign of times and I don't think it will get better.
