Ah - the troubles of coding. I see the problem that happened at "the site that will remain unnamed" has cropped up here. Seems that if you are on for more than a few minutes it automatically marks all topics as read.

Now - I don't know the ins and outs of the coding for this site - but it seemed to me that it NEVER happend when the site was just starting out, but now that we have a lot of posts it is beginning. Joe never could track the problem down, but I had a thought: Perhaps it is an issue with the size of the site? Memory buffers at the server end not set high enough? or they are simply overloaded? Just a thought.

Is it happening for anyone else?

It hasn't happened to me, but I'll research it. It's more likely a php session issue.

Just did it again - this time after two clicks. The date stamps help - but the graphic prompts are easier to deal with.

How much time between clicks? You're not opening multiple browser windows are you?

I looked at one forum, saw nothing of current interest (breif scan, maybe 5 seconds tops) then clicked on another forum (same thing) - when I clicked back to the Index - all topics marked as read.

It could easily be just my computer - it regularly does funky things.

And here's the interesting tidbit of the week - I found out we are on a Token-ring netowrk out here! Token-ring!? Are you serious? Evil or Very Mad

My computer is automatically set up to accept them and I can't do anything about it - I don't have the administrative access.

Well, that's fine. That's what you want anyway. One browser window, right?

Yep. One window. Explorer 5.5. Pretty high security though and I'm behind a mighty persnickity firewall.

I'll look into some this evening, I'm on my way out the door.

Anyone else have this same problem?

Not really Mike, but the first finger on my right hand has some severe chaffing from scrolling to read up and down on the forums...perhaps you could do something about that.... Laughing

Go to your profile, change the board style to "compactTrail". I was working on this a couple of weeks ago. It should have all the modifications, but if you see something missing, let me know.

Daddee, I haven't found anything in the way of a fix for this issue. I'll keep checking the support area at the phpBB site.

I'm not sure if this is what Colin is talking about, but.. If I click on the small icon, farthest right hand side, it should take me to the last post for the particular thread. Takes me to the top of the last page that the last post is on.
