Glad to hear that Hooli. Sounds encouraging. I mean that Bo is eating, not that he's eating better than you.

That's good to hear, my black lab was sick about two months ago, and it took many weeks for him to finally get better. We never did end up finding out what the problem was. The vet had no clue, the meds didn't work and finally we took him off them and about two weeks later he was better. Go figure.

Hoolie: You giving the dog lactated Ringers??? Sometimes some resultant lower GI issues from the liquid diet. Seems to be a god sign that he is eating voluntarily. When you have to squirt thinned Gerbers Baby food down their throat with a syringe, its a real concern. We're all pulling for Bo. -R

Thanks all! And Randy, the fluids were subcutaneous; 1/3 liter each time through a needle under the skin between the shoulder blades. He was tough...one yelp when I hit him with the needle, then stood still for the five minutes or so it took.
I'm up now 'cause Bo climbed out of bed and I wanted to make sure he was OK; he just headed out the dog door to pee (all those fluids I've been pumping into him; I have the same problem when I've had too much beer pumped into me Beer ) and now he's back under the comforter on my bed and I'm feeding my addiction to this porridge site Rolling Eyes

On the stuff down the throat with the syringe....Only other time the Hooligans have ever been sick was when they were 12 weeks old and came down with Parvo; vet had me giving Pepto Bismo with oral syringe.....I was pink from head to toe for weeks after Laughing

Just got Leptospirosis test results: negative.

So, back to square one. Bo's vet here is going to find a specialist with ultrasound capability to refer me to because there are major liver function problems and we have to find out the cause before we can find a cure, if there is one.
I was hoping for positive Lepto test, because that's treatable with antibiotics even though it can leave liver and kidney damage.

Ultrasound scheduled for Monday with specialist in Mesa. Most likely now appears to be cancer of the liver.

Not good news Hooli. I hope it isn't true. That just isn't something you want the Hooligans to go through.

Thoughts and prayers are with you.

They're doing an exploratory laporotomy on Bo this morning. Going to open him up and see what and how severe the problem is. Using Laser surgery.
