That is a great trail, we did it as a car camp in Rustler's Park, hiked to Rucker Lake area. The shuttle is a pain, tho, probably 50 miles. I feel its worth it tho, Rustler's Park is one of my favorite spots. Sounds like a summer AZHikers trip to me.

Can't speak from experience, but "he whose name shall not be mentioned" did comment on wild flowers in some of his White Tanks trail descriptions. Think this was after the heavy rains in late '00 or '01.

Sounds like a great idea, no suggestions though. Let me know how it works out for you because that sounds like it could turn out really cool.

Bajada Trail

Trail Rating is Easy to moderate - although there is little elevation change, some sections and wash crossing are steep 3.2 miles (each way) or 8.5 mile loop through National Trail & Alta Trails

Season: Feb - April (Peak: March)

You can make this a loop hike by taking National Trail (across the road) and take the Alta Trail back to the trail head (8.5 mile loop)

Directions: Bajada Trailhead - take the main road (do not make any turns) from the Central Avenue entrance until nearly two miles in. Then, turn to the right following the signs towards San Juan Valley. Turn left into a gravel parking area at the 2.5 mile marker.
