www.dpchallenge.com is a pretty neat site. Every week they give you a theme and challenge you take a picture that week that meets the theme. The pics then get voted on and commented on. It 's a good place to learn a lot about photography, or have fun with the pictures you take. Lately they have been getting about 300 entries a week to the open challenge.
If you want to pay $25 a year you can enter the members only challenges and get a few other options, but a basic account allowing you to enter the open challenges is free.

I posted this after seeing Glen's photos. He would do real well there. Your's would do well too, as would some others I've seen here.

I've finished in the top 10-15% a few times. My wife usually places pretty high.

Cool site for sure and it looks like there is some talent there. I think those can be lots of fun for some but I have never been able to do the "my photo is better than yours" game. I do get pushed into the occasional contest by a friend who is into them though so I do it to please him.

I do scour certain sites to learn more and more about technique and to see the various excellent photography that people are doing.

amazing site. For myself that only bought a digital camera a few weeks ago this is great.
