I think it's 100 by 100 pixels and approx no bigger than 20kb...? It says somewhere on the site.

The avatar creator thing sounds cool. Idea

I meant to mention that in your art or photo program, like I use open source Gimp, you open your photo, crop it,(into a perfect square shape) tweak any colors, brightness, etc., then scale it to 100 by 100, then save as, so as not to ruin the original, then tweak the quality maybe down a little, then check the total KB to see if it's still too big. If it's still too big in KB, then lower the quality to maybe 70%, and see if that works. Then upload it. (Forgive me if you already do this... Wink )

I tried to mess with whatever comes up. I am hopeless at that stuff, despite having taken a couple of computer classes. I managed to learn to copy and paste! I don't even know if I have a photo program! If I do have one I don't know how to work it.

That is why it says "High tech wizardess" on my avatar. Hooli (evenstar) who is one of the moderators put it there as a joke. Originally he had put 12:00 12:00 12:00 in reference to his supposition that I probably could not even set a digital clock if I had to! (I can, but anyway, that was the joke. This was a couple of years ago...) I haven't improved a lot since then, although my typing keeps getting faster. I am up to about 70 wpm now.

You can email me your fav photo and we'll fix it and send it back! Smile in a few versions or croppings for you to choose from.

While we're on the topic of photos, I should mention I'd sure like to have an avatar again. Dang. Took my old one off, tried to put it back on again after I realized I have no idea how to re-size a photo so it will be the right number of pixels. The old one seems to have disappeared, and the one I wanted to put up there is too big. I tried re-sizing it, to no avail. I just don't have a clue.

So what else is new? Very Happy

KFarm posted his answer to this problem here -

His site is here
http://www.avatardr.com/

Pretty simple to use.

Thanks, both of you! I'll try the one GTG mentioned and see if I can actually do it myself because I really ought to learn how!
