I'm not the world's greatest photographer, that's for sure! Anyway, we finally got into what locals call the Old River Channel in our tandem kayak. It is below Imperial Dam and above Laguna Dam on the Lower Colorado River, a few minutes north of Yuma. We had tried kayaking there before, but right at the put-in the waterways are very narrow, and our skills weren't yet up to navigating them.

Later on, I looked on Google Earth and found the area. I saw which direction we should paddle to get to the wide area, which does turn out to be the old river channel.

Our skills have improved so that we no longer run into the reeds along the sides all the time! Plus, armed with the info from Google Earth we knew which way to go.

Anyway, I posted a few photos in the Gallery. Here are a couple of them:
