One of my Nalgene bottles that I've owned for two years is starting to form white flakes in the bottle. Is this from the plastic breaking down or is it hard water buildup? I clean my bottles once or twice a week and I haven't had this problem but my husband has. |

I've had the same bottle for over 10 years. I only use it on back pack and hiking trips but it holds up. To see if its build up, put a weak vinegar solution in it overnight and wash it out, any build up should come off then. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

We have Nalgenes that are over 10 years old. I also have an older version that is over 30 years old. I rinse them with bleach water occasionally but the vinegar sounds like a good idea, too. |

I have Nalgene water bottles that I still use that are 30 years old. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Use a 32 oz Gatorade or Powerade bottle.
99 cents and it comes with a sample liquid !
A very green idea as well!
Plus......no more hitting a bump a spilling all over.
