What date works for you? I've set this up Friday - Sunday with the main hike on Saturday. Some of us should go on Thursday to try to snag the group site (last time I was there it was first come first-served). Rustler's Park is pretty small but it is so far for many that it can be very busy or nearly vacant, which makes it just lovely.

The 4th is of course a long weekend, with potential for the accompanying crowds, the 11th may be pretty open because everyone else is staying home recovering from the 4th.

Info on this area is available at "Chiricahua Peak via Rustler Park TH, AZ" on HAZ; going all the way to the Monte Vista Fire Lookout would be a stretch for a day hike for sedentary me, but it's sure doable. As a real radical option, if anyone want's to set up a shuttle the day before, we could do Rustler's Park to Rucker- uff dah! (Can ya say that?)

Remember July is the rainy season, we can expect thunder showers in the afternoon.

I already have plans for the 4th so the 11th would be my first choice. I'm a maybe depending on the dog thing.

Maybe I'll make a GHOTM after all. The 11th would be my vote also. Rustler park will be a zoo on the 4th.

I voted for the 11th. This sounds like fun!

This sounds fun, was thinking of this area last year, before life interferred. I voted 11th, but have no clue if that will work for me. Just sounded like the most logical one. I'll see how it goes.

Shawn -- should I assume that you are not available the other July weekends and hence they are not an option ?

Yes, the 18-20 th is a work / family trip, if the work thing falls apart I won't do the family thing and that would be an option, but can't really ask people to plan for both. I notice this group plans about 6 months out. The 25-27 is an AZT work weekend at Humphreys.

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!

It appears the frantic campaiging and voting are coming to a close and it's time to call it. July 11-13 it is, hopefully the party can now come together as one and put the bitter primary behind and focus on November . . . Oops, I'm wandering here.

Sorry for those who preferred another date, but it can only be one, hope you can make it, if not we'll talk about you.

Now how do I put it on the calendar?
