give Summit Hut in Tucson a call

Thanks for the heads up Randy. Maybe one day soon we'll take a day trip down there and as a side trip I'll buy some shoes.

Maybe we can make the trip down there after we hike Picacho here in a few weeks - just another 40 miles south after all you know....

I heard that! I go through athletic shoes (runners, cross trainers, you name it) pretty quickly just as a matter of course. I tried a trail runner once and was very dissappointed at the life of the shoe. I prefer to buy a little heavier (I'm not a very light hiker anyway) and just pay the extra money.

In one 6 month span I went thru a pair of North Face trail runners, and 2, yes 2 (different)pairs of New Balance trail runners...

As for regular road running shoes...after playing around with various nike's, I finally grew up last year, went to Runner's Den, and walked away with the Brooks Addiction....yes Brooks..."your father's running shoe"...I know...but they were great...this past Oct I upgraded one notch to the Brooks Beast! Made for the big man! I love these runners!

Yep, I always look to upgrade. You get what you pay for. Durability counts for a lot in my book.

Hey! What's with this, "Your father's running shoe" crapola; that's what got me through the '94 marathon! (Oops! was that really 19 years ago?.....ok, Hooli's gonna slip away quietly now.)

The 94 marathon was 9 years ago. The 1984 marathon was 19 years ago.

You probably should have left for vacation 20 minutes ago Laughing

Yeah, yeah, I meant the '84 marathon. Hey I'm a senior and I have legitimate right to these moments! And truth is, given all the bashing I've taken lately I should have left for my vacation 20 DAYS ago!

That's only the second bash ever from me (I think) and I wasn't bashing, I was correcting. I just read your signature quote...I like that one.
