Mars rises a little after midnight this week, just a smidge north of due east. Here is a good site to check out what's in the sky and when & where. Put in your zip code, and select the date and time. You can change the direction of view at the bottom of the image.

Thank you for the link. Been outside looking at it for the past hour. Looks real close.

I just went out and looked at it, too. We have a very dark sky here, so planets look very bright, plus you can usually see the Milky Way from my yard, too--not this morning, though. I don't remember ever seeing a planet looking so large!
