I don't think I've ever been to a Google web site. Are you talking about the search engine? Then I recon I have.
Let's see if I can find a Google _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Google is my home page and my lifeline to the intertubes.

I don't really know how to do that, but will ask someone. Thanks. Yahoo search engine doesn't work either. MSN does. I seem to be able to get on most websites I try, which are admittedly few. |

What is the error message? Does it just hang up and not do anything at all?
It sounds like if you don't know how to make google your homepage, it may just be you need some help all together to figure out why certain websites don't come up. Do you know someone close by that can help you? There are a lot of factors why you may not be able to get to certain websites, without knowing the whole picture (type of hardware, internet connection, software, settings and so forth), it will be difficult to troubleshoot through this bulletin board. _________________ You can never eat too much candy... |

I don't want Google as my homepage. I just want to go there. I used it all the time before, but just lately when I try it I get the "Internet Explorer cannot connect to this page" page. I get that for the Yahoo search engine, too. Someone said something about cookies and cache. I know how to find the cookies setting (haven't tried to change it yet--what am I supposed to change it to?) but I don't know what cache is. Never saw that word in the Control Panel or My Computer. Just FYI I have Windows XP Home ed. There is a tech in town who doesn't charge very much. I don't have computer nerd friends, though.
I've used Google for several years on this very computer using this same dial-up connection. |

In internet explorer, go to tools / internet options.
Then under the general tab ( should default to that ) you will see browsing history. If you click on the delete button, it will bring up another box showing you options to delete cookies/ cache etc.
Delete both cookies and cache.
Be advised that after you do this, you will have to re-log into the pages that normally recognize you. ( thats what cookies do )
These instructions are based on IE7 If you are using an older version, your screens may look a little different than as described, but its the same basic direction. |
