or: Why it sucks to be getting older.

If you're wondering why I haven't been hiking much lately (although most of the people on this site have probably never gone hiking with me, which is a horrible statement all by itself) - other than the obvious reason of not having as much time as I'd like due to my three beautiful young children - the reason is that I'm apparently falling apart.

Not to sound like I'm complaining, even though I am - but I'm having a lot of trouble staying healthy these days.

Right now the list of aches/pains/ailments:

- Severely strained left tricep (I can barely lift my arm)
- Strained right MCL (lateral movement is out and it hurts like the devil to go up stairs)
- Re-aggravated herniated disk in the lower back (old problem that keeps cropping up every 3 months or so)

You'd think I'd be smart and start to take it a little easier at the gym - but you'd be wrong. It's very hard for me to force myself to take time off and rest so that recovery can happen. I like being active and I like working hard. I like working kids half my age into the ground.

But, we all know that I'm a stubborn cuss, and intelligence is far from a foregone conclusion, so I kick and I scream while fighting the obvious - but all the thrashing does is hurt my back again.

This sucks.

Can I buy a new body? Heck, even a new back would be something.

Daddee, can we switch the age numbers around for you? You're starting to sound more and more like Hooli...

...actually, you suckered him right in just with the title of this thread. What does THAT tell ya?

I'll guarantee you that if you've ever had a urinary tract infection you'd be sympathetic!

Sorry - you can ask all you like, but no such stories from me. All the plumbing works fine round these parts.

It's just the walls that are crumbling down.
