Recently some bad stuff happening--
San Rafael Swell--- a woman rappelling apparently swung into a wall, broke her arm, then landed in a pothole with low water. Her husband was unable to extricate her and she died. He was later rescued.

Heaps in Zion--a 200+ foot fall an apparent rigging error with the last guy out taking a fatal fall on rappel. It was a long day and they were descending in the dark.

Another fall using rope as a possible handline in some slots up in Utah resulting in a broken arm I believe and a rescue.

Some guys doing a big rappel, very experienced, at least two of the men passed over a section of rope where the sheath had parted leaving core exposed. They were very lucky they didn't ride the sheath down on the last part of their rap.

This was a mountaineering accident I think in the Rockies--woman raps off end of rope, it was icy and she was descending to rig at a changeover station. Her partner had to listen to her horrible fall, then descend and execute some difficult manuevers to get himself off the mountain. He was able to descend to her but she had died with the impact.

Be careful out there with the rope work!!!!

There is a lot to know that's for sure!

I hear these are some pretty decent classes.....sounds like a fun summer vacation adventure....learn some new skills & play in the technical canyons. I have no knot knowledge so I'd need to start at the beginner level.

I forget who posted this before, but here is a great site for learning to tie knots.
