I signed up to ride in the Tour of the White Mtns. mtn. bike event. I'm doing the easy 35-mile ride on dirt roads--I don't feel up to doing a lot of single track with so many others crowding the trail. (I dislike people coming up really fast behind me, wanting to get by, but there's no room, etc.) There are several choices, however, for single track rides: 41-mile, 52-mile and killer 66-mile. Plus a super easy 10-mile ride is offered. The event raises money for the local hospital.
Date will be October 6.

Ooh, sounds like fun. I haven't biked hardly anywhere since leaving Flag. _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

Well, did you sign up? They're limiting it this year to 600 riders. I haven't ridden it before as a registered rider, only as a first aider. Anyway, I signed up early so I would have something to train for all summer. I still have the skinny street tires on my mtn. bike, ever since Yuma. I have decided to ride the highways for another month or so, then put the fatties back on. Yesterday I rode up to Nelson Reservoir. Not very far, but a couple good hills coming and going. |
