Looks like See Canyon has been saved, reportedly not much fire damage.

Glad to hear See Canyon is OK.

This info site is updated daily around 11:00 AM.
http://www.az211.gov/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=713

Bear Canyon and Woods Canyon recreational areas have been reopened and highway 260 and the communities along it are also open.

I expect all will be open for this weekend if anyone is thinking about that area. Return to the site above on Thursday after noon and see what they are saying then.

Did you guys check out the website provided by GPSJOE? The cost of this fire was over $4 million bucks! Sheesh!

Meanwhile the forest thinning projects proceed at a snail's pace.

See Canyon the town I'm assuming you're talking about. See Canyon the actual canyon was ground zero for the fire and must be completely torched. Sad

Yeah, I was about ready to post the same map link. What a shame. The upper reaches of See, below FS 300, are (were) jaw-droppingly beautiful. The canyon had never been logged - too rugged - and there were some monster old-growth Doug Fir and Englemann Spruce. The side trip to See Spring was always a treat too. Breaks my heart.

The initial reports stated that the fire was human caused. Anybody know any more about that?

I'm sad I never made it there in the fall or any season for that matter.
