Do you think running a camera battery thru the wash would ruin it? _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Not if you used Woolite. No bleach. Air dry. |

I'd say let it sit for a few days and stick it in your camera.... the worst it could do is not work.... if it is good and dry it shouldn't do anything to your camera....thats what I am thinkin.... _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

(With some experience in the semiconductory industry) Usually these devices are built to be moisture tight...if you dry it out thoroughly, it should work. I once dropped my cell phone into coffee...the darn thing hissed and quit on me...and then came back to life after a couple of days. _________________ Do onto others as you would have others do unto you.

I'd give it a couple of days in direct sun in case any water got inside it. I'm guessing you're talking about one of the battery packs like my camera uses. A little water inside could lead to corrosion which could compromise the cells and allow the chemicals in them to leak. I know battery packs are expensive but compare that with the cost of the camera. If I washed one of my battery packs I'd pitch it. It might work but is it worth the risk? _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |

www.sterlingtek.com will have a cheap replacement if it doesn't work or you don't want to risk it. I use their batteries and other photographers I know use them a lot with no problems. Worlds cheaper then buying from the manufacturer.
Note, the risk is the battery leaks in your camera and ruins the camera. I'd say it's a really low risk, but if you can get a new battery that lasts longer then one you washed for $10-15, why risk it? _________________

I have found the Sterlingtek batteries better than the original Canon brand. They last longer and are about 1/5th the Canon price. They come out of Las Cruces so not far and they get here fast. _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

Ditto that about Sterlingtek, I have used them for about 4 years now. _________________ Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. |

You have to check for each particular battery on their site. Mine go by the same #'s as the Canon batteries. I think I have had my Sterlingteks for about a year and a half now. I got two Canon batteries when I got the camera but they didn't hold a charge after two years. They were 50 bucks and I think the same designation in Sterlingtek was 11 bucks. They last longer per charge for sure. I have four of them now and only need that many on a week long trip where I cannot recharge. I don't like running out of power out there. LOL The 1.5 year old batteries are still very good. They say it is best not to totally drain them or that could shorten their life (the lithium ions). _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

Thanks for the link. I had bought replacements for my canon off of e-bay last year. They worked great as well. About the same price on this website and probably more reliable or safer transaction. |
