The topic has been brought up several times in the past so I thought I would post it and see if there is an interest out there. We have built our selves a reputation of being an eating club with a hiking disorder... well what about taking this reputation a step further and create our own little cooking club type gathering. The idea is to gather at one persons house and each person brings the ingredients to one dish or if you have more people than dishes you split the ingredients between the participants. Every one brings their ingredients and their recipes and a bottle of wine or some other beverage. The drinking of beverages starts immediately as does the cooking. When the cooking is done the eating begins. In the end we all get to try new dishes we wouldn't ordinarily try and we get to hang out with wonderful people! I will organize and host the first one since I have done this before if there is interest. _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

I'm in, but west valley doesn't seem to be a popular location for many of the gluttons......oops!.....meant Gourmands of course, not gluttons. I have a crock pot ( who's not surprised that Hooli has a crock pot and an unglazed clay cooker, but both take hours to cook something in and if we start imbibing at the start of the get togather....well ....need I say more? Also have good BBQ, etc. Sounds like it'd be fun! _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

I would be up for it too. I am sure it will be interesting to see the different combinations of food items that this group will come out with.
Even at 1:46 AM what Hooli posts is a crock.

No "interesting combinations" here! There will be a menu planned so things go together... or perhaps just a theme and every one comes up with their own recipes.... just depends on how many are interested... _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Although with the amount of interest I see in the poll, we might need a restaurant not someone’s home to hold all the cooks. _________________ Tony |

I see that Tony! It actually surprises me! I figured I would get at most 5-6 positive reponses! Way cool!
I will leave this up a bit then I will post a poll on days the first one can be done. Once a decision is reached on a day I will come up with a menu or theme and will need to know who all these positive responses are so I can let people know what dishes they will be responsible for. I am hopin some of these responses are girls! I am not sure I can handle cooking in my kitchen with 9 guys! Tony you will bring Karen right? _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Yeah. I'd hate it if 10 girls showed up at my house to cook. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Diane, just saw this.
I remember you talking about this a month or two back. Thought it might be kinda fun. I've never done anything like this before. Might get some interesting dishes as well as side conversations. Too many cooks in the kitchen ?? Naaa _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)

You can never have too many cooks in the kitchen! I love to cook and I love to cook with others even more. Then the real reward comes when you get to eat what you have cooked! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

That is very true, except egg salad with the egg shells... (young boys who wanted to do the cooking class with the girls in 4-H)... The lady made us eat it too...didn't want the boys to feel bad. A couple of them told me later they did it on purpose. We're hopefully not making egg salad, right? _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)
