again---mine was after a day of yard work, up and down the ladder and while shopping at the grocery store so I don't exactly know what the resting rate is but I'm happy with this reading.

maybe I was just in hibernation before Smile

101/58 pulse still holding at 80.............hmm, now I'm wondering how to lower my pulse rate. Cardio? I hate that stuff!

Take your truly resting pulse rate first thing when you wake and before getting out of bed. Just being up and moving around is going to raise it from your resting rate.

consistent cardio workouts will bring many individuals resting heart rate down. But there are many factors that may prevent this...such as being anemic, thyroid issues, dehydration, electrolytes inbalances, caffeine and simply the way the heart is wired in the pacer portion of the heart (SA node & AV nodes ). These are just a few reasons why a low heart rate may not be achieved.

If an individuals blood pressure has dropped from their normal baseline your heart rate increases to compensate perfusion to vital organs. You want your MAP (mean arterial pressure) to be 60 or greater to perfuse your brain and other vital organs...with a healthy individual, your heart rate will increase to reach this goal.

to calculate mean arterial pressure it is Diastolic X2 + Systolic divided by 3.

After cardiac surgery, the trend is to keep everyone's MAP >60, that way the brain, kidneys, GI, Lungs are all happy.

My BP this a.m. before getting out of bed was 120/74, pulse 68; of course that was with Richie Rich standing with two feet planted firmly planted on my bladder, his way of saying, "Hooli, get your sorry butt outta bed and play with me and feed me, not necessarily in that order!" It tends to work! Silly
