We've got an upcoming fall holiday in about 3 weeks and we'll be spending a few days in Las Vegas...I've only been there one time before, bookending an epic Grand Canyon adventure, so I didn't get to explore much...

I think we're staying at Treasure Island...

Does anybody have any recommendations on attractions/meals/other stuff...

Mt. Charleston. I've heard there's great hiking there.

If your into climbing there's Red Rock(s). I'm not a fan of Vegas but the climbing there is awesome.

Food in vegas seems to be a crap shoot. There is a lot of average stuff and a lot of bad stuff. I can't say I've ever had a great meal anywhere. Avoid the buffets!!!

Attractions; pretty much what ever you're into you'll find. I thought the indoor skydiving simulator was pretty cool. You jump out over the business end of a huge fan and you actually fly. Also, I haven't seen it yet, but I heard the blue man group is awesome. Several of the casinos are well worth walking around in, but once you've seen a few they all start looking the same.

My favorite thing to do there: Sit at the black Jack table and get free drinks all night. With a decent knowledge of the game you can make a little bit of money last all night. Playing black jack I probably have won as much as I've lost, but all the free drinks makes me the winner! Plus I just have fun playing the game.

The consensus for the best dinner buffet is at the Mirage - and the best breakfast buffet is at Ceaser's Palace.

We have relatives in Vegas - my brother-in-law is a lawer and he has clients that get him into everything there for free. His recommendations have never steered me wrong.

However, that being said - if you really want a good meal and can spend the money, the restaurants at the Belagio are totally worth it. Expensive ($100 per person on average) but the best food around.

Climbing in the Red Rocks area is also HIGHLY recommended. Really solid stuff there - with several climbing companies that operate right there and can take you to the sweet spots.

Final notes - stay away from the Celine show - go see Blue Man Group and walk the strip at night from one end to the other - then make sure you have a couple of dollars to take the bus back to your hotel.

Good advice all around...thanks!

Pat and I have seen Blue Man in Chicago a few times, so we'll pass on that. I've been out to Red Rocks and hope to do a day thing there. I was looking for the "better" places to eat, so I appreciate the Mirage and Caesar's recommendations...thanks all!

Was in Vegas 4 days last October and had dinner at the Mirage buffet......it was the best but bring your appetite since there is so much to choose from. Saw Siegfried & Roy and the show was great but it was pricey. I really loved the casinos at Caesar's Palace, MGM Grand and Mirage (probably because I won at all three!) Have a great time!
