I live minutes from the Put In for Black Canyon below Hoover Dam and I live 20 minutes from Callville Bay Marina which borders some of the deepest insizing into Hamblin Mountain on Lake Mead. I need a means to get my backpack into these places. I live in an apartment. Knowing boats well I beleive an inflatable won't handle like a rigid but I have to store it inside. Any kayakers out there with some advice? _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. I have an inflatable kayak that I use on the slow moving lower salt river. Personally I would not plan on an extended lake paddle compared with a rigid kayak but it's been reliable with no leaks after several years of use. |

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably opt for this one instead of the one I have......the self bailing feature would really be nice. In Puerto Panesco, if the water was nice and calm, I had not problem getting it out into the sea without taking in any water; but much of a surf and it'd easily fill.......wouldn't sink, just sit there 3/4 submerged and almost impossible to handle.

Hey thanks Hooli. I've read some about this boat and it gets great reveiws. I'm not sure what kind of boat I need yet but I alsp live in easy access to the west mouth of the Grand Canyon. Now that would be a blast. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Yeah. I think that on Lake Mead self bailing would be important. This lake gets mean sometimes. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Just my $.02, try a standard kayak first. I bought one, used it once, and went out and bought a standard kayak. I had a Sterns. It was too much work, they don't track straight, and they are impossible to paddle up stream on even a slow river.
But it's hard to argue with the convienence of the inflatable. _________________

My only gripe is I'd have to use a rigid kakyak as a couch if I bought one. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. The ceiling is one foot to short. I guess I could use it as a couch. I've got two camp chairs for living room furniture.

We sell advanced elements at sport chalet. models we carry are dragonfly 1 and advanced frame as well as the Advanced frame convertable(1-2person)
They rock.. especially the advanced frame models. the dragon fly is $299 iirc the other two are a few hundred more, but they are not just inflatable, they have rigid parts and are extremly tough. I have messed around in the and think they are a great product.
I can setup, take down and pack away the advanced frame convertable in 6min. |

Not really. There's twice as much crap in there now. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Nevermind the inflatable. I'm renting a storage room so I can purchase the right boat for my needs. It will become my motorcycle garage as well. I've started a thread elsewhere under this heading asking for advice on rigid Kayaks. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play.
