Anybody know what the conditions are like at Tuweep at the Grand Canyon during the summer? Way too hot? How about fires at night? Restricted yet?

What's too hot? Right now it's about 86 degrees F and going down to around 40 degrees F tonight. At the bottom of the Canyon it's basically the same weather we have here in metropolitan Phoenix, probably a tad hotter.

If you're contemplating hiking the Lava Falls trail, it's definitely too hot now, or anytime in the summer. Crazy Tuweep/Toroweap is only 2500 feet above the river, and maybe 6 - 7 degrees cooler. If it's anything like Phoenix weather at the river (and I'd imagine that it is...), that's way to hot to hike that trail. It's south facing, across a lot of black basalt, and no shade whatsoever....

No hiking, just camping. But if it'll be 100 or so that'll be a no then...

It will be like being at 4300 feet in the Mohave/Great Basin transition. I bet high 90's would be the norm, if not 100. Especially when we're seeing 1-teens in Pheonix and Vegas. Tuweep is not exactly high desert...not exactly.
