Friday we headed to Patagonia where we would partake in the Old Pueblo 50 Mile Utlra Endurance Trail Run, on Saturday.
This Trail Run followed part of the Arizona Trail through some absolute beautiful country of varying terrain. As far as elevation there was around 7000 foot of climb and 7000 foot of descent to make thinks even more challenging.
I'm glad to announce that we both completed the race sucessfully.
I know AZhiker96 and Desert Reoux had expressed interest in doing one of these. It was an absolutely amazing and enjoyable time if you guys have any questions contact me.
George it sounds as if the Zane Grey Ultra 50 isn't going to happen do to the extreme drought conditions.
For those interested my time was around 13 hrs 7 minutes, I would have been about half hour faster but had a few problems.

I'd say hiking 20+ mile days with a 50lb pack would be good training. Well done Heat. _________________ ~Never Satisfied~

Here are the race results. Though I was 78 out of 111 I'm happy considering I'm not a runner, have never done anything like this before and 90 plus percent of my training was just doing what I love, hiking and backpacking.
Check out the winning time!!

Yep it is indeed insane Paint! Like I said this was not an easy course, 7000 feet of elevation gain and loss, some very steep uphills and very steep rocky downhills.
Hard to imagine, times like that but true.
Did you notice the 64 year old that did it in 10 hours something? That is my type of inspiration. _________________ Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. |
