Ask the cave groups for a checklist and have a week before the trip to obtain items. Regarding photos, ask if it is okay to take pictures, some folks don't like pictures being taken. Change of cloths, you will be surprized how dirty/muddy you will get (depending on the cave). Hard hat with a chin strap. Dry caves if bats may be roosting I was advised to take a filter mask. I also took (as a suggestion by the guide) a small waterproof zippered bag and ten foot of cord to pull it along. The bottle and bag may be a little difficult, practice (the cave host/guide will appreciate and may invite you to visit other sensitive cave). You know how your body reacts to foods, plan your meals 24 hrs before the visit. Cave groups are quite secretive regarding cave locations, follow their rules/guidlines and you may be invited along for other visits. Have a great time. |

I am borrowing a friends climbing helmet, have a good light to strap on. I plan to take a very small daypack that I won't mind dragging in the mud, and some short cord with it. I've worn this thing backwards to do some scrambling manuevers so I hope it will work. I'll have my pee bottle, zip locks, and a snack and extra batteries for the lights. I have a small, thin dry bag to stuff things in that will provide another layer of padding too. The camera I think I'll stick in a thin bubble wrap envelope and stick in my pack so hopefully it can take a beating. I'll be sure to ask re: pcitures.
I most always take a change of clothes in the Jeep anyway, I always get dirty hiking while Jerry has a nice clean white shirt. I cannot figure that out.
I've heard this cave is quite slimy and I look forward to playing like a kid in the mud, and learning whatever these folks will teach me. I am very excited!!!
A whole new world has kinda fallen in my lap, we'll see where it leads!!! _________________ You can rest when you're dead |

Way cool! I am envious! I need another new experience! Hope we can put something to gether soon so more of us can try the caving thing! I did the cave at Haunted Canyon but that was a pretty small cave I would love to explore a larger one! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~
