We will eventually pollute ourselves out of existence and use all our resources. |
Seems like a rather defeatest and cynical attitude, and I respectfully disagree. One of the primary lessons that humanity has learned over history is the ability to adapt to circumstances. We are prodigious consumers now, because we seem to have a surplus. Once we have used enough resources that our species survival truly is threatened, we will finally find a way out. There just simply isn't that life-or-death imperative at this time to substantially curb our consumption habits. And yet, there is evidence that we are heading that way, and intellectually we understand that, so there are grass-roots efforts to alter our habits NOW.
I wouldn't worry about the future of humanity. We are more than capable of making the correct changes in time to save ourselves. Now, if you want to worry about every spieces of plant and animal on the planet - that is another issue entirely, and one I won't address here.
I will say, however, that I have a much more optomistic viewpoint. There will be a number of casualties (species wise) to pay before humanity learns the lessons of conservation, but those lessons will be learned, and both the planet and humanity will continue just fine. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

Unless "Signs" and "V" are prophetic, and the aliens come and harvest the humans
Maybe there are aliens out there who require silt for sustainence? Then we'd be set. _________________ -Colin

Good golly! There is a blast from the past. Horrible...horrible series. The pilot was somewhat cool, but the seiries bit. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."
