FR401, Cane Spring Road, in the Four Peaks Wilderness. Went out 03/04/03. The road was in excellent shape out to Cottonwood Camp. Smooth and 35mph easy the whole way. After Cottonwood Camp was another story. Very rough, low 4WD nearly the whole way. I've not been out there before for comparisons, but get the impression that this is the usual condition. No badly washed out sections though.

I've taken 401 to the east side of Cottonwood Creek several times over the years. It's always been rough. You can cross the creek and drive a few hundred yards (the flat area) in 2WD if there's no water in the creek but you need to be in 4WD before you start heading up the hill.
