There's a new film coming out soon called OPEN WATER....the premise is based off a story from a few years ago about a couple that were scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef as part of an organized dive charter. When they finished their dive and surfaced, they discovered that the charter boat had left them. I don't believe the bodies were ever located. The charter company discovered that the couple were missing when they found their personal items in a locker a day or two later.

Talk about a nightmare.

The movie looks cool as hell. SCARY. But cool. Brings up one of my biggest fears.....also reminds me of a Magnum PI episode when Magnum has to tread water for 24 hours straight after his kayak is hit by a boat....

Yikes. Kinda reminds me of the story about the Indianapolis in WWII. The thought of that gives me the willies.

I just saw a preview for open water. Frankly it looks a little boring. How could they possibly fill two hours with just a couple people treading water, let alone a couple people you know are gonna die anyway.

I saw an interview with the stars of the show. They said that real sharks were used for filming, no mechanical or computer generated sharks. They were protected by several means including chain mail under their wet suits. I wonder how a shark would floss to remove that! Shocked
