Well, I used the bladder and drinking tube today and can report that it worked fabuluously. I fill the bladder then put it in my pack and ran the tube out and down to where they normally are on hydration packs. I didn't have to mess around with the nalgene bottles as much, unless I wanted some gookinaid, so that waas nice. Also it was easy to just pull out of the pack when I sat down for lunch and didn't want to mess with my pack. Thanks for the comments, greatly appreciated.

I went to REI to check out the drom bag, too. The guy there was saying he didn't like them because they're hard to clean-you can just stick your hand in the camelback if u have to. any comments about cleaning it? Everyone on this website really seems to like it alot.

I only carry water in mine so there is no cleaning, just hang to dry. If I want an other kind of drink than water I use a liter nagalene to carry it as well as my Drom.

I've used the Dromedary (heavy one) since Hnak turned me on to it. Platipi didn't work for me, multiple leaks etc.

As for cleaning it, I just let it dry, occasionally I'll wash it with soap and water and a little bit of bleach in the water. To store it I pulled a wire hanger out straight, and then put that in the Dromedary, it holds it open and hangs it at the same time. The sucky tube gets a little skanky once in awhile, but I clean that the same way, and have a little cloth on a string to thread thru it to clean it.

After the multiple Platty failures, this is no bother.

I only use H2O in mine too, and carry a nalgene bottle for sports drinks. I just always hang mine the minute I get home from a trip. I might swish dish soap and water thru it once in a while. I have a new bladdar that I got with my new day pack, I may consider using gookinaide in that one. It looks like a throw away bladdar. Mary
