It sounds like the Western Supes are going to be a zoo due to the plane wreck, recovery efforts, and lookie loos. So for a post Thanksgiving calorie burn I plan on hiking Picketpost tomorrow.

I haven't been on the trail for a few years so I can't vouch for it. I do recall a spot or two that might be touchy for those with acrophobia. It is a good burn though and the mailbox on top is unique.

If you'd like to go, plan on meeting at the trailhead for a 9am start. From Phoenix, head East on 60 towards Superior/Globe. You will see a sign for the trailhead just before you reach Boyce Thompson arboretum. Turn right and follow the road to the trailhead. I think you might have to make a left on a dirt road just before you get to the trailhead. If you're unsure, print out the directions from HAZ.

You don't have to sign up but if you do I'll keep an eye out for you.

Sounded nice George, hope you had a good time and maybe someone joined you. It was a Beautiful day to be out !

Couldn't make it, On-call this weekend and didn't get on site till today, so I'd have missed it, even if not On-call.

Only did this one once and would have considered again. It is a unique little hike with the PO box at top. That was an interesting idea and you get a full view from the top.

The big boulder part is the one place that I have to figure out best way to scramble up and over. Last time Tony gave me a hand up.

Yes, Very Sad about the Plane crash day before Thanksgiving. Can't even imagine the pain the families are going through. When the news said the Sups, I wondered where thinking it somewhere far in, but then mentioned Flat Iron and was stunned...somewhere so close

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and hope the pain they are feeling will lessen as quickly as possible. This has to be devestating.

Sounds great George and I saw your pics....gorgeous day!

I did a variation (figure Cool of Hackberry with some off trail adventure on Saturday and didn't see a whole lot of peeps on this trail. However there were many lookie loos out on the road to FW......15 cars at the Crosscut TH (I've never seen that many there before!!!) and all kinds of people pulled off the road watching the helicopters.

I just went along my merry way along Hackberry and thought of the families involved with that plane crash......siliently prayed for them.

TT
