I'm sitting here in Maswik cafeteria, after a nice lasagna dinner, just relaxing. Tomorrow I'm heading to Lipan Point with the Grand Canyon Field Institute. We'll head down the Tanner trail and spend six days poking around in the east end of the Canyon. Once we get to the river we'll wander downstream to he Hilltop Ruin, and the Unkar overlook. Then we'll head upstream to the Palisades ares, and then up the Beamer trail to the Little Colorado and back. After six days of fun, we'll wander back out of the Canyon next Friday.... This is great! Very Happy Hiking

So am I heading out next weekend for another week of camping. Will be taking the popup again (next month its the M416 with the tent camping gear). Think I am going to visit the Prescott National Forest though I had a great trip last month that if the weather is okay I may return to the Rim. A group of bicyclist that I ride with wiill be starting the bicycle tour camping trips to the various parks that ring the Valley and I may start riding with them if time permits.

Sounds very fun!

Mike C. pointed out the Hilltop ruin to me when we were on the river this past summer. You can see it from the boat. But we didn't stop.

I'll be hiking the Tanner/Escalante Route/New Hance over Thanksgiving.

I plan to hike Beamer on my next river trip, Sept. 2012. We plan to camp as near upriver from LCR as allowed, then a couple of us will start hiking early in the a.m. The boats will float on down and set up camp at Tanner Beach and wait for those of us doing the hike.

It was hot enough that we decided that a 12 mile day hike to the LCR with no shade was not a good thing to do. Instead we scrounged around in the drainages of Palisades Creek and Espejo Creek, just to see what we could see...

I'm working on getting a few pictures together and compiling a trip report. In short, the Tanner trail is a long, steep and rocky in places, and scenic trail. I'd like to do it again as part of the Escalante Route loop, when it cools. More to come...

P.S. I had a great time!

Hi there Cindi.... nice to hear you are still out there...
Was thinking about you the other day and wondering if you're email was still good. Guess I'll try sending you a note and see what you've been up to.

Hey Trish, Michelle: Was out of town for the better part of 4 months playing and a little bit of working, in the Pacific Northwest. Hope your all well.
