Did not get a chance to go to Flag this weekend. Brother had an open house at his new house in Mesa. Spent Sunday morning cycling from Chandler. Heard the cicada's singing usually means the monsoon season will start soon

Lots of cicadas singing at Phantom Ranch the other day. Humidity came up on Wednesday, but backed off yesterday. A little cold last night in Flagstaff. It got to the high 30s for the low.

It rained in Eagar and other areas of Wallow Fire a couple of days ago. Signs up all over town for people to go help fill sandbags. I doubt I would last long doing that kind of work, so I didn't go. Nutrioso, Alpine, and Greer, and to a lesser extent the Safari/LeSueur area of Eagar may be subject to flooding of residential areas.

Looks like the pattern shift is almost here. More high pressure circulation related than trough related. It's July, so it's expected.

Maybe it will rain on our 4th of July parade in Round Valley!

They have decided to hold the fireworks after all, in Springerville. It's a very big display, one of the best in the state. Tucson Electric Power (Springerville Generating Station) bankrolls it. It's worth seeing, if you like fireworks. Lots better than what we used to see in Tucson at A Mountain.

Nice to know. I'll be watching them this year where I normally do, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Great show there too.

I'd like to go to Alamogordo one of these days. My dad was born in La Luz, on the outskirts of Alamogordo, in 1906. I have never been to La Luz. I hear it hasn't changed much since he was born there!

La Luz and Tularosa just up the road are beautiful. An oasis in the desert. There's a great drive on a back road from La Luz up to High Rolls on the way to Cloudcroft. Lots of rails to trails stuff there too.

And don't forget about Three Rivers Petroglyph Site. Over 12,000 petroglyphs on a ridge of rocks.

That 3 rivers place is also on my list. Would be a nice fall trip. The Springerville chapter of the AZ Archaeological Soc. had a couple of field trips there, but I didn't go.

So, back on TOPIC, I am wondering how much flooding and debris flows will actually occur in the White Mtns. once monsoon hits. I'll be interested to see what happens.

My guess is it won't be a pretty picture. I think it will be worse down in the Huachucas and Chiricahuas though. Crying or Very sad

Floods and debris certainly wreaked havoc in Doney Park after the Shultz Fire (Flagstaff area) last year. Post-fire floods can be a lot worse than the fire itself, as far as number of residences affected.

On the one hand rain would be good, but I don't want the humidity. I was a lot more comfortable on Friday after the dew point dropped below 20. It was up near 50 degrees.

Rain on the Peaks, to the NW, and coming into the western end of the Mogollon Rim. Monsoon season is here.

Rain in Eagar pretty much every day or night. Forest Service is opening Apache-Sitgreaves areas, a little at a time. Some areas are re-opened already.
