Backpacking Supes: Storing food overnight

I will be backpacking in Supes next week and need info on safe food storage. Are there locations to throw up a bear bags or should we bring our Bear Cannisters to store food overnight and protect from critters. etc. Any advise appreciated! Thanks!

Depends on where you are planning on staying. Haunted Canyon and Reavis Ranch have plenty of trees for hanging bear bags. Lower desert its best to have a rat sack and hang it cause you will mostly run into small muchie kind of critters in those areas. Charlebois has trees as does Hackberry Spring. Reeds Water has trees. Hope this helps!

I still carry a bear can. Then I can sit on it at night.
I haven't carried the bear can since I had to carry all the extra water weight.
PLease do bring enough water!!!!!

I have not had any problems with Rodents, bears, or any other little critters getting into the food, just hung it in a stuff sack from a tree away from my tent and the camp site.

Thanks Deborah! We plan to carry 4-5 liters of water. Our tentative intinery is start at Roger Trough trailhead (trail # 109). Stay on trail 109 to the junction of trail 109 & 212. Stay to the left on trail # 110 rogers canyon trail. Then to Reavis Ranch back to Rogers Canyon. Any idea is there are enough trees that we can throw up a stuff sack or would you recommend bringing the bear cannister?

That area should have mesquites and junipers. Beautiful area!
